The case study was set-up by Universite Val-de-Seine Paris through three female architects. The site is under occupation by an organization CESURE. The former Campus of the University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle is run by Plateau Urbain and their partner YES, WE CAMP. The building promotes knowledge & learning, and in the process of being rehabilitated by the EPAURIF which is Ile- de- France’s public institution for university development.

Who occupies the place? "Plateau Urbain", an organization that is a temporary and transitional urban planning cooperative offering affordable workspaces for dealing with social concerns in a former place of knowledge, known as University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle.

In this large space of 25,000 square meters, 200 institutional actors, associations, artist, artisans, who are all sharing knowledge and competences. The building is therefore a field of experimentation for the social economy, a space of solidarity that brings new actors, activities, and perceptions to the area. The place is shared with 2,000 students every day and excels at developing an exciting space for transfer of knowledge.

This example of transitory urbanism with the several associations that occupy the place, aims to develop social actions and projects for equality and local social needs, social and solidarity-based economy.
